Straight Line Reverse

When doing a straight line reverse on a wide flat road I feel confident in my ability to:

  • .

Select reverse gear, prepare my car to move and position myself to take effective observations therough the rear window and still maintain steering control

  • .

Take effective all round abservations, including blind spots, before I start.

  • .

Coordinate the controls in order to maintain a speed equivelant to a very slow crawling pace.

  • .

Make fine steering adjustments to keep a constant distance from the kerb (no more than a metre).

  • .

Pause occasionally, whilst maintaining control of my vehicle, to take effective all round observations.

  • .

Respond correctly to other road users.

  • .

Remember to re-fasten my seatbelt, if removed, before moving off

More Challenging Circumstances

  • I feel confident in my ability to:

Complete the manoeuvre safely on roads with varying gradients and widths.

  • I feel confident in my ability to:

Assess whether the location would be safe, legal and convenient to undertake this manoeuvre and where potential dangers might arise.
